Ashmore View plunders another big prize for North

Ashmore View was the even money favourite to win out overnight and in his quarter-final he got the better of Marshals Music by two lengths, having a 3-1 majority when the hare went home.

He then faced Callura Hill, who surprised Pals Magic in the quarter-final and, after being level early on, pulled clear to have a length in hand at the turn.

At the bottom of he draw Crafty Pedro put out the fancied Patterdale Romeo, who was off-line in the run up, and when he got back on line it was too late as he failed by a length to get up. The Galway owned brindle was expected to make his exit in the semi-final when he met Kyle Tiger but he came from behind to take the opening turn by three lengths.

In the final Ashmore View took control from slips and stretched away to have five lengths in hand at the turn.

Ashmore View is owned by Gary Anderson and Stephen Boyle from Bessbrook, Co. Down and trained by Dan Brassil while the runner-up is owned by Brian and Shane Divilly’s of Claregalway.

There was a surprise in the final of the Irish Stud Dog Owners & Agents Select Bitch Stake when Tosca, owned by Laurence and Brian Jones from Monaghan, got the better of the favourite Gooleen Jessie, the property of Mrs Eilish O’Sullivan of Labasheeba, Co. Clare. In the final the winner led all the way to take the turn by three lengths.

Trajectory, owned by Bobby O’Connell of Castleisland, Co. Kerry, who won the T. A. Morris Stakes at the National meeting, took the Woodlands House Hotel Irish Purse when beating last year’s Irish Plate winner Cnoc Eile, owned by Brendan Brody from Northampton and trained by Richard Devonish.

In the decider the Moss O’Connor trained dog led all the way for a three lengths success, having the only two scores in the buckle.

The Bill Chawke Irish Plate went to the puppy, Dale Blue Boy, owned by Orlaith Farrelly from Mullingar. In the final he came up against the Champion Stakes winner Mustang Rooster, owned by Patsy Byrne and Mrs Ann Bourke and took the turn by two lengths.

The runner-up had a tough semi-final course when beating Dumbledor.

No Favours Here, the property of Dermot O’Sullivan from Douglas, Cork who came in as a reserve, was successful in the Limerick Paint Supplies All-Aged Stake at the expense of Gibraltar, while Limerick West, owned by John Hayes and representing the Regional Club won the Dunravan Arms Hotel Inter-Club Working Members Stake.

In comparison with the opening day the coursing yesterday was outstanding, with the hares in excellent form.
