Experience can see Corrib Boy home
Corrib Boy faces some useful rivals off the flat in the Cahir three-year-old Maiden Hurdle, but the fact he has two outings over jumps under his belt is a big advantage.
The selection started with a creditable two and a half lengths second to Bermaho at Roscommon and performed even better at Tipperary subsequently.
Crowley’s gelding was beaten a length by Imazulutoo, with Swift Spirit a further two lengths away in third spot.
The fact both Imazulutoo and Swift Spirit have gone on to score in the meantime is obviously most encouraging.
The classy Dolmur looks the major worry. He was easily the best of these on the level, with a rating of 106, but Corrib Boy can outstay him.
Rosses Folly has a leading chance of defying top weight in the Fethard Handicap Hurdle.
She has been on the go for a while, but is holding her form and again performed well when two and a half lengths runner-up to market springer, Rosbane Valley, at Navan on Sunday.
The Irish Stallion Farms’ Beginners Chase centres on just how strongly fancied Edward O’Grady’s Pizarro will be, over an inadequate trip. He finished third to Hardy Eustace, promoted to second, in the SunAlliance Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but then fell at Liverpool and was most disappointing at Punchestown.
Preference is for Greywell. He travels smoothly through his races, is very smart when on song, and won his first two contests of last season.
Gowran Park bumper winner, Windswept Leader, a bit disappointing in two outings over flights, can find the moderate opposition of the INH Stallion Owners’ Maiden Hurdle to his liking.
