Hitchcock can see off previous winners
A son of the iron horse himself, Giant’s Causeway, Hitchcock made no more than a promising debut at the Curragh last month.
He finished just over two lengths fourth behind Heliostatic, tiring somewhat through the final furlong.
The selection was a big drifter in the market and, like many of the Aidan O’Brien juveniles, can be expected to come on substantially for the outing.
Charlie Swan’s Professor Hegarty, disqualified after scoring on this track last time, rates a safe wager in the Bumper.
He beat Crenaun Bridge a short head, but clearly hampered his opponent in the closing stages and demotion was inevitable.
The form is smart, considering Crenaun Bridge was completing a hat-trick of successes then and third placed Balakan won well at Cork on Sunday.
King Of Foxrock, a horse who has to stay on the bridle for as long as possible and who struggled up the hill at Galway when third to Young Elodie, gets the nod in the Caribbean Night Novice Hurdle.
Norborne Bandit, seventh behind Kinger Rocks at Galway, should find both his rivals and the easier track to his liking in the South Tipperary Hospice Maiden Hurdle.
At Sligo this evening Double Tree, fifth to Young Elodie at Galway, gets the nap in the Wednesday August 17th Maiden Hurdle. Stepping up another half mile in trip now is a big plus.
