Celestial Light is set to shine
The selection has flattered to deceive on many occasions, but this is a very suitable opportunity and it really is now or never for the daughter of Archway!
Following a two months break, Celestial Light returned to run two solid races. At Downpatrick she was beaten two lengths into second place by Deep Return.
That form was boosted when Deep Return went on to win over hurdles and fourth placed, American Duchess, has also scored in the meantime.
Celestial Light then finished four and a half lengths runner-up to Another Dollar over flights at Clonmel and now looks primed for a first visit to the winner’s enclosure.
Sixtino, the medium of some inspired morning price support when scoring at Thurles, can do the business again in the Pickardstown Handicap Hurdle.
He certainly showed all the right qualities in the closing stages on that occasion, finding plenty for pressure to score by two and a half lengths.
Gerrry Cully’s charge has been raised 8lbs, but can make light of the extra against this opposition.
Ted Walsh’s Hannon may prove the right choice in the Metal Man Novice Hurdle, despite performing poorly behind Waterlily at Leopardstown. The four-year-old, however, is probably better judged on his promising third to Zum See and the ultra-smart War Of Attrition at Naas previously.
At Punchestown, Michael O’Brien’s Commonchero gets the nod in the Visit The Panoramic Restaurant Beginners Chase.
On his debut over fences at Cork, Commonchero finished a remote fourth to Mossy Green, after being badly hampered at the sixth.
A useful hurdler, the rising seven-year-old is fancied to beat the promising Heads Onthe Ground, who may find this two miles on the short side.
