Kinane double on cards
He partners The Last Hurrah for John Oxx in the River Rock Race and the son of In The Wings gets the nap.
Any rain would increase confidence in the selection, but even without the elements taking a hand he should still prove too good for this opposition.
The Last Hurrah made an excellent start, on soft ground, at Leopardstown in April when comfortably taking a ten furlongs maiden by a length from stable companion, and favourite, Ebaziyan.
He reappeared in a handicap, under 10-0, at Gowran Park in June. This time, on a very fast surface, Kinane’s mount was unable to raise his tempo in the closing stages, finishing just under three lengths fifth to Carlesimo, who was in receipt of two stone.
Swiss Roll, who meets The Last Hurrah on identical terms to a handicap, is out of form, so Sandy Owen rates the biggest danger.
He ran a cracking race at Roscommon last week, failing by a neck to concede Turtulla a whopping 27lbs.
Kinane also has a leading chance aboard the Harry Rogers trained Fit The Cove, a close third to Samawi and Knock On at Naas six days ago, in the Kielys’ Electrical Stores Handicap.
Dalian Dawn, despite reservations about his jumping, gets the vote in the Grand Hotel Novice ’Chase.
Following a creditable second to the smart Always at Punchestown, he was disappointing at Roscommon subsequeently, making a number of errors.
That contest eventually went to Mount Kimble, but Dalian Dawn probably would have won, but for making little attempt to get to the other side of the final fence.
Windsor Boy, making his ’chasing debut and a promising ninth of 21 in a Curragh handicap behind Gemini Guest, could emerge as the main stumbling block.
