Zimbabwe can deliver
The handicapper certainly didn’t have an easy task attempting to assess him and it is more than possible the improving three-year-old has a bit to spare!
A promising juvenile, Zimbabwe enjoyed little more than a good workout when landing a moderate maiden at Wexford on his reappearance last month.
Starting a prohibitive 2-7 shot, he cruised to a four and a half lengths success, revelling in the fast ground.
Of course the cut and thrust of a tough handicap will be completely different, but there was a lot to like about Zimbabwe at Wexford and he looks sure to run a big race. At Navan tomorrow, Christy Roche’s Wouldn’t You Agree is nap material in the College Proteins Novice 'Chase.
He produced a brilliant exhibition of jumping to beat Le-Monde, who scored at Cork next time, at Tralee on his debut over fences and will be even more suited by this faster surface.
Michael Grassick’s Moore’s Law, another who likes it on top, is the one to be on in the Ladbrokes’ Hurdle.
He won at Fairyhouse in April, beating Michael Mor by half a length, but lost the race in the stewards’ room. Moore’s Law will surely strip fit and fresh for this test, with Grassick’s charges in flying form.
At Gowran Park tomorrow, John Oxx’s Ebatana has to be fancied to get off the mark in the Three Rivers Oil Fillies Maiden.
She was a costly odds-on failure at Tipperary back in April, only managing fourth behind Jakarta Jade. The daughter of Rainbow Quest has been given nice break and the bare form of the Tipperary contest gives her the edge in this company.
Aidan O’Brien will want to forget Royal Ascot as quickly as possible and Go For Gold, a son of Machiavellian, can see him feeling mildly more upbeat by making a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden.
