Try Mac Three for starters
He is fancied to get us away to a flyer aboard Noel Meade’s Mac Three in the opening County Vintners’ Association Maiden Hurdle.
The selection was beaten half a length into second spot by one of his main rivals now, Gimli’s Axe, in a bumper on this track in May.
Mac Three, however, was ridden for speed on that occasion and a lot more use was made of him next time when he returned to Roscommon to score by a comfortable three lengths.
The likelihood now is Carberry will strike for home a fair way out and such tactics can reap another reward.
Carberry and Meade team up with Lance in the Bank Of Ireland Novice Hurdle and this promising six-year-old should prove hard to beat.
A bumper winner at Thurles, Lance justified some hefty wagers when getting off the mark over flights by five lengths at Navan in May.
A third Carberry possibility is Tony Martin’s Woody Glen, runner-up to Rampart at Tralee, in the Flemings’ Super Valu Handicap Hurdle.
Jim Bolger’s Banba, grabbed on the line by David Wachman’s Sweet Gypsy Rose at Naas, gets the nod in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden. Wachman’s newcomer, Showbiz, is an obvious worry and her travels in the market will have to be closely monitored.
Boundary, who has been crying out for two miles, is burdened with the nap in the Ballybride Maiden, in the hands of Jamie Spencer.
The Grand Lodge colt galloped all the way to the line when failing by half a length to concede Lily Shing Shang 11lbs in a handicap over 14 furlongs at Bellewstown last week.
