Spencer’s hopes high for Million
The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt is drawn in stall 10 and will be wearing a visor for the first time. He wore the aid in his work.
Spencer reported: "He seems fine and in good form. He is never disappointing in the morning and is a tough horse.
"He will be wearing a visor and that should keep him concentrated.
"It's not necessarily a bad draw as it gives horses some more time if they miss the break. We shall see."
Spencer also rode Necklace, who competes in the Grade One Beverly D Stakes on the same card.
He said: "She is very fresh at the moment. She seems fine and it would be great if she runs to her two-year-old form, but it is a big call against the older horses."
The jockey also had news of O'Brien's Secretariat Stakes contender Moscow Ballet, who came on to the track with his work rider.
"He seems in good form. He always sweats a lot, that's absolutely normal for him," he said.
"He will love the sharp track, which is riding very fast, and there are only seven runners. On form he should beat Dermot Weld's Simple Exchange."
Trainer Neville Callaghan pronounced himself satisfied after Magistretti cantered on the track ahead of his bid for the Million.
After watching his four-year-old work ahead of the 10-furlong contest, Callaghan said: "Magistretti seems to be fine and I hope he runs up to his best. I've had a look at the track and it looks quite sharp, but there will be a good pace and that will suit him.
"The only worry is the draw he is drawn 12, which is probably not ideal. He will be ridden by Edgar Prado, who regularly rides for Michael (Tabor) over here.
"Magistretti has travelled well, he seems in good shape and the good ground suits him well.
"The plan is for him to stay here in America after the race. He will join the (Patrick) Biancone stable."
Magistretti is one of four European challengers in the Million, which has attracted a field of 13.
Epalo from Germany and Vespone from England are the others.
