Septimus is forced to work hard for success

Seamus Heffernan, replacing Kieren Fallon, brought the Aidan O’Brien-trained youngster from last place to challenge between his stablemate Altius and Rekaab a furlong out.

Rekaab, trained by Kevin Prendergast, did not go down without a fight and Septimus (4-6) had to be driven out to score by a length. O’Brien said: “The horse has learnt a lot today. He got a bit hampered in running. There’s maybe no need to run him again now as he has learnt so much here.”
