Knight digs deep for success

RED KNIGHT dug deep to lift the Willie Cummins Memorial Stake at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

The winner was best away and held a marginal advantage over Way More Rebel, General Olan and Uptown Jacko on the run up.

Red Knight had established a definite advantage over Way More Rebel at the second bend and the order remained the same down the back straight.

Way More Rebel edged closer at the third bend as Starlet Rose and Uptown Jacko also hit top gear to launch their challenges.

But Red Knight was hanging on tenaciously in front and, although challenged on all sides up the straight, hung on by three parts of a length from Uptown Jacko in 28.94, with just over a length separating the first five home.
