Bee cansting rivals

CHRISTY ROCHE’S horses are gradually hitting form and his Like A Bee is fancied to land the nap in the Nore Valley Hurdle at Clonmel this afternoon.

Bee cansting rivals

The six-year-old has already shown his liking for this track. He won his bumper here and was second over flights to Collier County at Clonmel last time.

That latest effort was a decent enough performance, in the context of this opposition. Like A Bee held every chance in the closing stages but was outstayed by a useful rival, going down by two lengths.

Dublin Hunter, who showed improved form to score by five lengths over today’s trip at Naas on Sunday, reads the biggest danger.

Doire-Chrinn, an eight-year-old who has never won over jumps, may enjoy a belated turn in the Mares Novice Hurdle.

She’s got buckets of experience and has run two solid races of late in handicaps. At Leopardstown last month, Doire-Chrinn probably hit the front a trifle soon when a close third to She’ll Be Lucky and Newhall.

Previously, the selection finished a creditable seventh of 18 finishers behind Dromlease Express in the Pierse Hurdle, also at Leopardstown.

Tom Taaffe’s Jones’s Road is no star, but well capable of squeezing through a moderate event such as the Slievenamon Beginners Chase. A repeat of his third in the contest won by Light On The Broom at Thurles in February will see him go close.

Edward O’Grady’s once-raced Tengo Ambro gets the nod in the Bumper. He is by Jupiter Island out of former Cheltenham Festival heroine, Loving Around, and has been given plenty time to mature, having shown definite promise when seventh behind Masriyna’s Article at Fairyhouse back in November.
