Cosmo in control at Curraheen
The John Linehan trained runner, the 9/4 joint favourite along with his kennelmate Satin Sandy, had the best of the break and led Jeffs Pacific into the bend.
The front pair had pulled nicely clear of the remainder by halfway, with Stamford Cosmo looking in control when two lengths clear of his rival at the third bend.
But Jeffs Pacific closed the gap between the last two bends, virtually drawing level by the fourth bend.
However, just when it looked as if Stamford Cosmo might have a fight on his hands he asserted again early in the straight and had two lengths in hand at the line in 28.63.
Satin Sandy was slowly away and though moving into third at halfway could make no further impression and finished seven lengths behind his kennelmate in third place.
The winner is jointly owner by Ray Ronan and Kirsty Thomson of Charleville.
Linehan's representative, Obvious Claim, could only finish second in the night's other final - the Mini Market A3 Backgraders Stake.
Victory here went to the Francis Woulfe (Ardagh) owned and trained Ardaghs Sauron who was fast away and always in control as he beat Obvious Claim by a length and a half in 28.67.
Linehan did however complete a double when Liam Burke's Historic Moment made short work of his rivals in heat 3 of the Droopys Stud 575 Stake, beating Piltown Aoife by three and a half lengths in a fastest of the round 31.30.
