Offaly's Alex Dunne (Rodin Motorsport) has moved up to equal third in the FIA Formula 2 series following his second place in the Feature race around the streets of Monte Carlo on Sunday morning.
The Clonbullogue driver, who began from P3, took back-to-back second places, having also finished second in the Feature race in Montreal a few weeks ago. He shares third with his Rodin Motorsport teammate Martinius Stenshorne - fifteen points behind championship leader Italian Gabriele Mini.
Polesitter Rafael Camara made a great start and led race winner Bulgarian Nikolay Tsolov, with Dunne maintaining P3, however, Dunne's teammate Stenshorne slipped back to sixth from P4.
Tsolov set the fastest time of the race on Lap 3 to close within 0.4s of Camara down the main straight only for the latter to make a good response with a quick time on Lap 5.
By Lap 12, Tsolov was back within DRS range of Camara as they were some 2.5s clear of Dunne, who was being pressurised by Sweden's Dino Beganovic.
On Lap 32, both Tsolov and Stenshorne pitted for their supersofts while Dunne and Camara followed a lap later. Camara locked up into the corner and ran straight on, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car. Unable to re-join, he was out of the race.
Tsolov went on to take the chequered flag with Dunne second as Beganovic overtook Kush Maini to finish third. In Saturday's Sprint race, Noel Leon led from pole to take the chequered flag, Dunne was ninth.
Rodin Motorsport (96 points) are second in the Teams’ championship eleven behind Campos Racing. The next round of the series takes place in Barcelona this coming weekend.
