Chantelle Cameron has put her trilogy fight with Katie Taylor in major doubt.

The English fighter, who inflicted a first professional defeat on Taylor last year, posted on Instagram that the fight is "not happening". She put the blame for this on "Katie and her team and not me".

"Just an update on talks with the Katie fight I have agreed to a massive purse reduction to make this fight happen financially as this was what I was told was the hold up from the fight being agreed. The reason is because I wanted to create my own legacy," Cameron wrote.

"Now it looks like Katie will take a “keep busy” fight and avoid me as I think she knows that certain things that went her way in the last fight won’t happen again.

"Sorry to the actual boxing fans who wanted to see this fight but the trilogy not happening is down to Katie and her team and not me."

Last May, Cameron defeated Katie Taylor by majority decision at the 3Arena in Dublin. Taylor avenged that defeat with her own majority decision victory at the same venue in November.

A third fight between the pair had been mooted for Croke Park but that did not materialise. In an interview with the London Independent last month, Cameron was quoted as saying that the trilogy fight was due to take place at the 3Arena in May but later claimed that she had been misquoted.

Following November's fight, Cameron expressed her frustration about referee Roberto Ramirez Jr.

“It wasn’t just me and Katie in that ring," she BBC Northampton in December.

"If it was, I’d take the loss and say the better woman won on the night.

“I had everything against me. The ref on the night… it was such a high-status fight, why would you put in a referee that no one had heard of.

“That’s not my job, it’s my job to fight. I don’t look into who's reffing, who’s judging. I’m just frustrated, f I could turn back the hands of time, I would make sure that was all looked into. I’ve learnt my lesson.”
