Irish Paralympic team due back in Ireland tonight

The most successful Irish Paralympic team in the last 25 years will arrive home this evening to a hero's welcome.

Ireland finished 18th in the medals table at the London Paralympic Games - securing eight gold medals, three silver and five bronze.

At last night's closing ceremony, double gold medal winner Michael McKillop received a special award from the International Paralympic Committee for demonstrating the best spirit of the Paralympic Games.

Spokesperson for the Irish Paralympic Team John Fullham has said all 49 Irish athletes will arrive in Dublin Airport at around 8pm this evening.
