Nicolas Mahut's eventful Wimbledon is over after the Frenchman and partner Arnaud Clement were beaten 7-6 (7/4) 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7/4) by British pair Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski in the first round of the men's doubles.

The match began on Thursday after Mahut's record-breaking defeat by John Isner but only one set was played because of darkness, while Clement's singles loss to Roger Federer meant it could not be finished yesterday.

Mahut, 28, will have been grateful to get off Court 18, where he played Isner and the first set of the doubles tussle, but Court 14 did not bring him any more luck today as Davis Cup duo Fleming and Skupski wrapped up a four-set win.

The British pair next face second seeds Bob and Mike Bryan, who they beat at Queen's last season.
