Henin stages comeback to advance in Sony Ericsson Open
Justine Henin's stunning comeback season continues as she saw off world number two Caroline Wozniacki to reach the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
Henin rallied from a set down to defeat Wozniacki 6-7(5/7) 6-3 6-4 and leave her firmly on course for her third final of the year in her fourth tournament since coming out of retirement.
The Belgian struggled in the first set, making 27 unforced errors compared to a total of 23 in the remaining two sets, but eventually battled through in two hours and 45 minutes.
"My unforced errors I'm not really worried about, because I did hit a lot of winners," Henin said. "I have to be more consistent during the whole match.
"I did 30 unforced errors in the first set and only 20 for the last two sets. I prefer these stats actually.
"I didn't play for two years, so it's good to be on the court a little bit longer.
"Still, physically I was feeling, I wouldn't say fresh at the end, but I could play my best tennis on my last service game.
"So that was something I was happy about."
Henin lost just two of 22 service points in the final set, serving it out to love.
The 27-year-old will face compatriot Kim Clijsters in an all-Belgian semi-finals following her straight-sets victory over Samantha Stosur.
Clijsters, who is herself enjoying a successful comeback after coming out of retirement last year, defeated the number nine seed 6-3 7-5 in one hour 17 minutes.
The 26-year-old beat Henin earlier this year in an epic battle in the final of the Brisbane International.
