Hewitt rolling back the years
The 16 remaining players in the men’s draw at Wimbledon resume battle today with Roger Federer and Andy Murray hoping to continue their paths towards an expected final meeting on Sunday.
Federer will be looking for an 11th straight victory against Robin Soderling, who he beat in straight sets in the French Open final earlier this month, while Murray meets 19th seed Stanislas Wawrinka.
Some of the other names in the fourth round are less expected, though, with experience the order of the day.
Former champion Lleyton Hewitt has rolled back the years after returning from hip surgery, reaching the fourth round without dropping a set.
His victims included fifth seed Juan Martin Del Potro, the biggest casualty of the first week in the men’s draw, and success on the big stage is a welcome boost for the 28-year-old.
He said: “After the surgery, my surgeon was very confident that I’d get back to full fitness. I was prepared to do all the hard work to get to this stage of the big tournaments.”
