Henman sees confidence in Murray
Tim Henman believes Andy Murray will want to build on his promising start under new coach Brad Gilbert after noticing the youngster’s increased confidence during their second-round match at the Rogers Cup Masters Series.
Murray defeated Henman in Basle last year and survived a late comeback in Toronto to clinch a 6-2 7-6 (7/3) win, although the British number two believes there was a difference in his opponent's confidence this time.
“He’s definitely come a long way since then,” said Henman. “He’s much more experienced. He’s adding to his game, getting a little bit more aggressive. I think he’s a lot more confident.”
Gilbert admitted Murray’s game is unlikely to change significantly until after the US Open, which starts later this month, but the Scottish youngster has spoken of the confidence his coach has given him.
Henman added: “He’s obviously having a good couple of weeks the last few weeks. I’m sure he’s going to be keen to keep building on that.”
