Nalbandian advances to quarters
David Nalbandian again showed experience can be decisive at Wimbledon as he eased his way into the last eight with a straight sets win over French talent Richard Gasquet.
The number 18 seed had ousted British hope Andrew Murray in the previous round and his success against the rising stars continued when he overcame 19-year-old Gasquet 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 6-0 on Court Two on Monday.
Nalbandian, a Wimbledon runner-up in 2002, will now meet Sweden's Thomas Johansson in the quarter-finals.
Gasquet, the number 27 seed, had come into the tournament in confident form having won the Nottingham Open just before the start of Wimbledon.
And it showed with convincing wins over Philipp Kohlschreiber, Gilles Elseneer and Gilles Muller in his opening three matches at SW19.
Argentinian Nalbandian had met little opposition from Raemon Sluiter or Karol Kucera in his opening two rounds either, but had to battle from two sets to love down against Murray before eventually booking his place against Gasquet.
The match was expected to be a close affair and proved to be so in the opening few games with long rallies from the back of the court dominating the contest.
