Davenport defeats compatriot to progress

The infamous “graveyard of champions” failed to add to its list of illustrious victims at Wimbledon today, as both top seed Lindsay Davenport and world number three Amelie Mauresmo booked safe passage into the third round.

Davenport, winner here at SW19 in 1999, completed another comfortable victory, beating fellow American Jamea Jackson 6-0 6-3 out on Court Two.
