Australian Lleyton Hewitt appears to be preparing for a run at another US Open title.

Australian Lleyton Hewitt appears to be preparing for a run at another US Open title.

Hewitt won his second straight tournament yesterday, making quick work of Luis Horna of Peru 6-3 6-1 in the final of the TD Waterhouse Cup.

The second seed, Hewitt won eight of the last nine games to dispatch the ninth-seeded Horna and claim his 23rd career title and fourth this season.

In 2001, Hewitt won the US Open and went on to claim the year-end ranking at just 20 years old. He has not been back in that stratosphere but is heating up at the right time.

Asked what is needed to win the Open, Hewitt said: “You have got to stay mentally focused for two weeks.”
