Nolan reaches 1500m semi-final

James Nolan has reached the semi-final of the 1500m at the Olympic Games in Athens this evening.

Nolan ran in the first of the heats, which also proved to be the slowest. Nolan was unable to respond when Moroccan star Hicham El Guerrouj kicked off at the bell and struggled home in eighth place with a time of 3.41.14.

Nolan faced an anxious wait for the other heats and eventually qualified for the semi-final as the very last of fastest losers.
