Women's Super League build-up: 'Teams can double-team or triple-team me but it’s fine'

Some of the brand new talent joining the Domino’s Women’s Super League arrive with sparkling CVs. 

At Utility Trust St. Paul’s, coach James Fleming has signed two pros. Angelina Robles, a 5’5 guard from California, joins after an outstanding year with South Dakota. Robles made the first team of the All-Summit league and the WNIT All-Tournament team, averaging 19.5 points per game in the Summit League tournament.

Paula Reus Piza joins from Loyola Marymount University where she became a WCC Regular Season Champion. The Spaniard played 24 games, accumulating 127 points, 77 rebounds and 25 assists.

“The fans of St. Paul’s are going to see a versatile player when they see me on the court," she told Basketball Ireland. "They are going to see a lot of fire – I get very excited about baskets, not only mine but my teammates too,” said Piza. “I’ve been playing hard my whole life – teams can double-team or triple-team me but it’s fine, I’m used to it now.” 

 “The expectation from James is the same as last year. I know we’re going to get far and we’re going to do great. Our goal is to get to the final and win,” added Piza.

Californian Nya Epps joins FloMAX Liffey Celtics from UC Davis Aggies, where she earned a spot in the Big-West all-defensive team last year, averaging 13 points-per-game and collecting 20 or more points seven times.

At Killester, Mark Grennell has signed American guard Isabellah Middleton. She averaged 13.7 points-per-game with Iona Gaels in her graduate year, earning an All-MAAC Second Team & MAAC All-Defensive Team selection.

Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell have added Kayce Vaile, who featured for Swords Thunder in the Domino’s Women’s Division One, averaging over 25 points-per-game and 16.9 rebounds-per-game. Vaile spent the summer with Australian side, McKinnon Cougars, where she helped them claim the Big V Championship and earned herself a spot in the Championship All Star Five.

“The National League was definitely a change of pace from playing in college, but coming to Ireland and having an automatic impact on the court was great. Playing at the Division One level really helped me grow my game, and helped me build confidence in myself,” said Vaile. 

“At Brunell we’re young, we’re fast and we want to push the pace. Joining that kind of environment is exactly what I’m excited for.”

Newly promoted Limerick Celtics have signed Treasure Thompson and Jeni Levine. Thompson is a 6”2 forward, having recently played for the Wichita State Shockers, USA. She averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds-per-game, while also leading her team in blocks-per-game.

Levine joins from UNC Greensboro Spartans, where she reached her 1000-point milestone. The 5”7 guard was named to the All-SoCon Second Team in the 2025/26 season and scored three 21-point games. 

VSC Cavan Eagles have brought in Kilah Freelon and Darrione Rogers. Freelon spent the 2025/26 campaign with Virginia Tech Hokies, hitting five double-doubles while also matching her career high 18-points.

Rogers is a 5”11 guard from Chicago, Illinois, most recently playing for the Miami Hurricanes. Rogers was an ESPN five-star recruit out of Lake Park West High School, before making her move to Miami, where she led the Hurricanes in three-point shooting at 38.5%.

Portlaoise Panthers have signed Bria Shine and Chinwe Iwunze. Head coach Ger Jago told the Laois Nationalist: "With these two additions, I'm not going to say we'll be challenging for the league, but I'm quietly confident that we have what it takes to mix it with the midfield.

“Coming from a Division One programme, Bria is going to bring scoring. She has a very high basketball IQ. She brings height to the team, which always helps in the Irish league.

“When I spoke to her on the phone I got really good vibes and I think that she'll gel really well with the girls who are there already.

“Physicality and smarts, she has it all, and it's a piece of the jigsaw that was missing I feel. That bit of height and that bit of aggression. She brings both.

“Chinwe is coming off a couple of seasons playing in the highest league in England. She's a really high-tempo scoring guard, who loves to push the ball in transition. She’s fast and a great floor general. 

“She averaged 20 points a game last year, so hopefully she can replicate that here, which along with her physical attributes, I think is really going to be beneficial to the team, especially having lost such a high scorer like Jess [Fressle]” he said.
