Roddick beats rain

Fourth-seeded American Andy Roddick was anxious to complete his fourth-round singles match against Xavier Malisse at the US Open.

He succeeded – barely. Roddick cruised through two sets before outlasting the unseeded Belgian 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7/5), in the only one of 108 scheduled matches to be completed at the soggy USTA National Tennis Center.
