Armstrong almost home and dry

Lance Armstrong is within touching distance of a record-equalling fifth Tour de France title this evening after a drama-filled time-trial won by Britain’s David Millar.

The American has been locked in a thrilling duel for overall honours with Germany’s Jan Ullrich and started the 49km time-trial on the race’s penultimate day just 65 seconds ahead of the 29-year-old from Rostock who had blown him away in this year’s previous time-trial.
