Good start for Henman
Tim Henman made a good start to his first Grand Slam tournament for almost nine months when he won the first set of his first round match against Vladimir Voltchkov in the French Open.
The pair swapped service breaks in the first two games of the match with Henman throwing in consecutive double faults as he struggled to find a rhythm which has been elusive since his shoulder injury – which kept him sidelined for four months.
But Voltchkov last won a match on clay back in 1998 and the Belarussian’s uncertainty on the surface began to show in a flurry of unforced errors which saw Henman break serve in the fifth and seventh games, before the Briton wrapped up the set 6-2 with an unreturnable serve.
