Tim Henman will this weekend fly out to America as he steps up his bid to be fit in time for Great Britain’s Davis Cup clash with Australia.

The British number one has been forced to side-step this month’s Australian Open as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

But, he remains hopeful of returning to action in Sydney on February 7 as he jets out for some warm-weather work with coach Larry Stefanki.

The 28-year-old said: "I was all set to travel out to hook up with Larry on Tuesday.

"But last weekend I was really sick so I was in no state to travel, let alone practice or train, so there was no point in travelling as scheduled.

"I was pretty rough for a couple of days but I feel much better now. It will be nice to be able to practice outside again and not have to worry about whether I have enough de-icer in the car to get me to the gym in the morning!"

British number two Greg Rusedski has already made himself unavailable for the tie due to injury.
