Hingis eyes August 12 comeback
Martina Hingis could be back in action as early as next week, her manager said.
Mario Widmer said the former world No 1 may play in the Canada Cup, which starts on August 12.
The player underwent surgery in May to treat a damaged ankle ligament.
"Martina's condition has improved enormously," Widmer said.
"It's fairly certain that she will be back in Montreal next week and also ready for the (Pilot Pen tournament) in New Haven," which begins on August 18.
However, Widmer said, Hingis' participation in the tournaments was still "not definite''.
Hingis has not entered the US Open, which starts on August 26.
