France's doping watchdog claims two un-named players failed drugs tests at the French Open.

One tested positive for the banned stimulant bupropion, while the other tested positive for the local anaesthetic lidocaine, which is a restricted substance, an official at the Council for the Prevention and Struggle Against Doping (CPLD) said.

The official said the players' names would be kept secret until the CPLD finished a probe into the test results. He said the players would be allowed to request a B-sample test and would be asked to appear before the CPLD.

The investigation should be over by September.

The official said the CPLD can impose bans ranging from one month to life on athletes guilty of doping offences. The ban would only apply to events in France.
