Agassi wins as Henman crashes out
Andre Agassi has booked a place in the third round of the French Open after winning his second match in two days this afternoon.
The fourth-seeded American lost the opening set of his second-round match against Spain’s David Sanchez, but took the next two comfortably before Sanchez retired with a foot injury. 32-year-old Agassi only played his first-round match yesterday after rain delays on the first two days at Roland Garros. He beat French qualifier Eric Prodon on straight sets.
Meanwhile, British number one Tim Henman is out of the competition after losing to Xavier Malisse in four sets today. Henman squandered a 3-1 lead in the fourth set, losing his serve four times in a row to crash out on a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 scoreline. Henman recorded a straight-sets win over Spain’s Gilo Blanco in the first round, but the 27-year-old Briton produced 76 unforced errors today to mark his failure to make the third round in France for the first time in four years.
