Pete Sampras and Yevgeny Kafelnikov followed Marat Safin out of the Ericsson Masters Series in Miami.

Teenager Andy Roddick showed Sampras that the future in US tennis is now, dismissing the 13-time Grand Slam champion 7-6 (7/2) 6-3 to reach the fourth round.
