Uzbekistan athlete expelled from London

The International Olympic Committee confirmed a female gymnast from Uzbekistan has been formally expelled from the London Olympics after her backup “B” sample also came back positive for doping.

IOC spokesman Mark Adams said Luiza Galiulina was axed after a second test confirmed the initial finding for use of the banned diuretic furosemide.

Galiulina tested positive in a pre-games urine control in London last Wednesday. Galiulina is the second athlete expelled from the games for doping. Albanian weightlifter Hysen Pulaku was disqualified last week after testing positive for the steroid stanozolol on July 23.
