Hamilton can be world champion this year, says Stewart

LEWIS HAMILTON has what it takes to become Formula One world champion in his debut season, according to motor racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart.

The 22-year-old is joint top of the drivers’ standings after becoming the first man in the history of the sport to finish on the podium in his first three Grands Prix.

That has led three-time champion Stewart to claim the McLaren driver from Stevenage will win the world title within three seasons – perhaps even this year.
