New York Marathon goes online

Applications for this year’s ING New York City Marathon are to go online next Monday, January 31, at 5pm Irish time.

The 2004 race became the largest marathon in the world when 36,562 runners finished the rigorous course over the city’s five boroughs.

There were 350 Irish competitors but because there are more than 75,000 applications to run, an annual lottery is held every June to determine the lucky participants.

This year’s marathon is on Sunday, November 6 and application forms can be found at www.ingnycmarathon.org from next Monday afternoon.
