The exciting, once-raced Ballydoyle colt Wall Street might prove the star of today’s two-year-old card in Leopardstown on a busy weekend of action with meetings at both the Foxrock venue and Limerick both today and tomorrow.

A son of Sea The Stars, who cost no less than £1million. as a yearling, he impressed when scoring on his debut at this track in August, an outcome which clearly surprised even his trainer Aidan O’Brien, and, with significant improvement likely, he should be very tough to beat here as he steps into stakes company in the Group 3 Mongey Communications Eyrefield 2-Y-0 Stakes.

After a tardy start, Wall Street crept into contention on his debut and looked set for minor honours until switched by Wayne Lordan and taking off.

He picked-up in great style to seal victory well inside the final furlong, scoring by a half-length from Jesus Green, who went on to chase home star stable-companion and subsequent ‘Dewhurst’ winner Darkness Falls, with Ballydoyle colt Drumbeat (winner of the recent Zetland Stakes in Newmarket) in third.

That’s rock-solid form. And, with more to come, Wall Street is difficult o oppose today.

In the other Group 3 action, Paddy Twomey’s Trean, a creditable third to Haffner in the ‘Acomb’ at York before bagging the Goffs Million at the Curragh, might give the Red Lily Syndicate another significant pay-day by beating the O’Brien contingent in the Mongey Communications Killavullan 2-Y-0 Stakes.

Meanwhile, Limerick kicks-off its two-day BOYLE Sports Munster National meeting with an eight-race card, with local trainer Charles Byrnes likely to provide punters with an early boost via Bunker Buster in the opening maiden hurdle.

A first flight casualty when a well-backed favourite for his hurdle debut in Gowran Park, this fellow had two solid bumper runs and can recoup recent losses.

And, in the listed Master Chefs Novice Hurdle, Dallas Star, trained for AMO Racing by Emmet Mullins and successful on his jumping bow in Navan, will appreciate the longer trip and might prove too strong for Emeral Enigma.

Tomorrow, Eric McNamara, who trains in nearby Rathkeale, will saddle three, including last year’s 1-2 French Dynamite and Weveallbeencaught, in his quest for a third successive Munster National triumph.

The €100,000 contest looks wide open. And, perhaps, Uhavemeinstitches, trained by James Motherway and winner of the Grade 3 Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Chase over course and distance last spring, might give Harry Cobden his biggest success in his role as retained rider for J P McManus.

Others to note include the Mouse Morris-trained Bossofthebornwies, another second-season novice with undoubted stamina, and cross-country specialist and top-weight Stumptown, a year on from his Velka Pardubicka success.

In Leopardstown tomorrow, King Cuan, impressive in the recent, relocated Concorde Stakes at the Curragh will be tough to beat on his first excursion beyond seven furlongs, in the listed Bahrain Turf Club Knockaire Stakes.
