Top class line-up set for City Sports

THE date for the 54th BUPA Cork City Sports has been confirmed as July 2 and they take on a new dimension as part of the European City of Culture activities.

“The fact that is has been tied in with the European City of Culture has definitely raised the profile of the meeting among the European nations,” Chairman Dick Hodgins said yesterday.

“We have had quite a number of enquiries and we would expect many more over the coming months. At the moment we just have the provisional programme and that can be altered to accommodate the athletes who will actually be coming to Cork as the date draws nearer.
