Harrington, Lowry and McIlroy to draw big early gallery at the K Club

A big early Thursday morning crowd looks guaranteed as Pádraig Harrington, Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy tee off in consecutive groups in the first round of the Amgen Irish Open at The K Club.

There are 11 Irishmen in the field and while Dubliner Robert Moran is off in the first group from the first tee at 7.30am, the big three will go off the 10th shortly afterwards.

Harrington will get the ball rolling alongside Venezuela’s Jhonattan Vegas and France’s Adrien Saddier at 7.40am.

Lowry is off in the next group with LIV star Brooks Koepka and France’s Martin Couvra at 7.50am before Masters champion McIlroy fires his opening tee shot alongside Omega European Masters champion Thriston Lawrence and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan at 8am.

John Doyle from Fota Island, the 18-year old amateur who will play in the Junior Ryder Cup in New York later this month, plays with American Martin Trainer and Norway’s Andreas Halvorsen from the 10th at 9.10am.

The rest of the Irish hopefuls have afternoon starts in round one with Seamus Power off the first at 1pm with LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton and big-hitting Marco Penge.

Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy has been handed a plum draw alongside former Masters champions Patrick Reed and Danny Willett from the first at 1.30pm.
