Leona Maguire shot four-under for her final round at the Amundi Evian Championship, leaving her in a tie for seventh on 11-under at the fourth Major of the year. She finished three shots off eventual winner Grace Kim who defeated Jeeno Thikitul in a playoff to claim the title.

Maguire had opened the tournament in France with a stunning six-under 65 on Thursday, a round which included a hole in one, to put her tied for the lead. Her challenge stalled on Friday and Saturday with level par and one-under rounds, respectively, meaning she started Sunday four shots off the lead.

"Played some really good golf this week," said Maguire. "Probably the best golf I've played in quite a while. It's nice.

"I knew my game was sort of trending nicely coming into this week, so I think this is a course that tests all aspects of your game."

Maguire had her sister, mother and aunt in the crowd for what was her fifth consecutive week of play.

"My approach shot is something I've been working quite a bit on, and they were really, really good this week," Maguire said. "Lots of positives to take out of the week.

"My iron shots were really good, especially off the slopes. I had a lot of control over my irons and gave myself a lot of chances.

"The hole-in-one was a bonus on Thursday morning as well. Maybe didn't quite drive the ball today as well as I would've liked. Left a couple putts short. Overall it's still a top 10 in a Major."

Next up for Maguire is certainly the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl in Wales in a fortnight and possibly the Scottish Open next week.

"I won the British Am at Pyle & Kenfig, which is across the road from Porthcawl," said Maguire. "I played the Vagliano Trophy there in 2011. I don't remember much of the course to be honest. The weather was not very nice.

"Home tomorrow morning, some links golf next week at home in Ireland," she said about her plans.

"Undecided whether I play the Scottish. That will be a decision to be made in the next couple days. Scottish and then British, hopefully."
