McIlroy and Lowry crowned Zurich Classic champions after play-off 

McIlroy and Lowry had planned their partnership for the event after the Ryder Cup, and had been championing the chance to play together before and during the New Orleans showpiece.

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have won the Zurich Classic in New Orleans after a play-off battle against the pairing of Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer.

The Irish pair, having birdied the 18th to get to 25-under-par and force a play-off, took the upper hand on the first hole in the battle against the Americans.
