Rory McIlroy has laughed off rumours that he was set to join LIV Golf and has insisted he will play on the PGA Tour for the rest of his career.
There had been a number of reports suggesting that McIlroy was on the verge of an $850million move to LIV Golf.
And while that was strongly denied by his manager Sean O’Flaherty, who called it 'fake news' with 'zero truth', McIlroy also moved to deny the links on Tuesday.
“I honestly don’t know how these things get started,” McIlroy told Golf Central.
“I’ve never been offered a number from LIV, and I have never contemplated going to LIV. I think I have made it clear over the past two years that I don’t think it’s something for me.
“It doesn’t mean that I judge people that have went and played over there. I think one of the things that I have realised over the past two years is that people can make their own decisions for whatever they think is best for themselves.
“Who are we to judge them for that? But personally, for me, my future is here on the PGA Tour, and it has never been any different."

Asked if he has any idea where these rumours originated, the Northern Irishman insisted; “No. No idea.
“Ah, jeeze. Like, I think over the last two years there has been so many rumours of guys… you know, I think the one thing that I have realised as well is that guys need to keep an open mind and I am sure there are players still playing on the PGA Tour that have talked to the guys from LIV and had offers and whatever.
“But, yeah, I’ve no idea. It’s never even been a conversation for us. Yeah, it’s one of those things it’s unfortunate that we have to deal with it, and this is the state that our game is in.
“But yeah, I’m obviously here today, and I’m playing this PGA Tour event next week and I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career.”
