PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan sat at the dais for an hour trying to dodge questions about the future of professional golf.

On a week that is supposed to celebrate 50 years of the tour’s flagship event, the Players Championship, not a single one of the dozens of questions he fielded regarded the event at hand.
