Phil Mickelson’s victory in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open yesterday has lifted him three places in the latest world rankings.

Mickelson, who defeated South Africa’s Branden Grace on the first hole of a play-off at Castle Stuart, climbs from eighth to fifth after his first individual victory in Britain.

Teenager Jordan Spieth moves from 120th to 59th in the standings thanks to his win in the John Deere Classic, which also earned the 19-year-old a place in this week’s Open Championship at Muirfield.
