Horsey moves clear in Agadir
England’s David Horsey remained on course for a second European Tour title by picking up three shots over the first eight holes of his final round to claim the outright lead at the Hassan Trophy in Agadir.
Horsey, who headed into the final round as joint leader along with defending champion Rhys Davies, made the perfect start with a hole in one at the par-three second and, despite following that up with bogeys on three and five, regained his composure and birdies on seven and eight earned him a one-shot lead on 13 under.
South Africa’s George Coetzee also enjoyed a blistering start to his round today, with four birdies in a flawless opening nine holes propelling him to second place on 12 under having started the day two shots off the pace.
Davies was two shots adrift of Horsey after eight holes. The Welshman dropped a shot on the second but recovered well with birdies on three and five to get himself back in contention.
Finland’s Mikko Ilonen two under for the day and 10 under overall after nine holes, with Holland’s Joost Luiten and South Africa’s Jaco van Zyl nine under through nine and eight respectively.
Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn earlier signed for a course-record 62 to finish six under for the week.
