Englishman Wall leads Sicilian Open

Anthony Wall maintained his place at the top of the leaderboard at the inaugural Sicilian Open today but is set to come under increasing pressure from the chasing pack as the third round plays out.

Wall has been in control for much of the first ever European Tour event at the Donnafugata Golf Resort, and after going one under par through 13 holes today had moved to 10-under overall, level with Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin, who was three-under for the day having also completed 13 holes.

Englishman Wall moved to the top of the leaderboard after a second-round 67 yesterday and is searching for his first win on the European Tour since 2000.

Welshman Phillip Prince hit seven birdies as he carded an impressive third-round 67 to propel himself up the leaderboard and into the clubhouse lead at six-under.

Steven Dodd shared the lead initially but has dropped back into the pack, also on six under and one of six players in a tie for third along with Joel Sjoholm, Richard Green, Jamie Elson and Marco Crespi.

Peter Whiteford carded an impressive five-under-par to become the highest climber of the third round so far, moving up as high as seventh at one point after his strong effort.
