Donald wins shot of the month

Luke Donald has won the European Tour Shot of the Month award for May for his 252-yard fairway wood to 12 feet on the 16th hole of the final round as he won the Madrid Masters.

The shot led to an eagle three as Donald beat Welshman Rhys Davies by one.

Second place went to compatriot Simon Khan, whose closing 20-foot birdie putt gave him victory in the BMW PGA Championship, and third was Spain’s Alejandro Canizares for his approach to the seventh in Majorca.
