US Open leader Graeme McDowell will start his third round at Pebble Beach trying to temper his dreams of major championship glory with a heavy dose of realism.

The European Ryder Cup star tops the 110th US Open leaderboard at three under par after winning his private duel with the famous California links last night as he shot a three-under-par 68.
