Garcia on tail of leaders in Spain

Defending champion Sergio Garcia remained a shot behind leaders Martin Kaymer and Robert Allenby after the completion of the second round at the Castello Masters in Spain this morning.

Garcia had three holes to play when play was called off because of fading light last night and, on the resumption bogeyed the short 16th, but birdied the next and parred the last.

It gave the tournament host – this is his home course – a three-under-par 68 and an 11-under aggregate of 131, while playing partner Jose Maria Olazabal’s 67 put him joint fourth at halfway with Swede Michael Jonzon and Indian Shiv Kapur.

Jonzon and Kapur are both trying to save their European Tour cards. They lie 158th and 117th on the money list respectively, with only the top 115 retaining membership for next season.
