Rock opens account to extend Vivendi lead
Robert Rock got off the mark and Nick Dougherty had another win to stretch Britain and Ireland’s lead over Continental Europe at the Vivendi Trophy in Paris today.
The pair thrashed Robert Karlsson and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano 5&4 to put Paul McGinley’s side 7-4 ahead.
The contest switched from fourballs to greensomes – both players drive and then choose one ball – but the pattern was staying the same.
Northern Ireland duo Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy came from two down to two up with three to play against Henrik Stenson and Peter Hanson.
The bottom two games were all square. Miguel Angel Jimenez and Alvaro Quiros had been two up on unbeaten Simon Dyson and Oliver Wilson, but were hauled back to level after 11.
Ross Fisher and Chris Wood were twice in front against Anders molinari and Francesco Molinari – they had two out of two as well – before Hansen holed a 25-foot putt from off the green at the 11th.
