Rookie Shin leads at Torrey Pines

South Korean rookie Jiyai Shin continued her outstanding form to hold the outright lead after two rounds of the Samsung World Championship at Torrey Pines.

Shin's three-under 69 in benign conditions gave her a one-shot lead over Mexico's Lorena Ochoa and Japan's Ai Miyazato.

Shin, who was tied for the lead with her compatriot Song-Hee Kim after the first 18 holes, was nine under after 36.

Mizayato dropped a shot on the final hole for a round of 68. Ochoa endured mixed fortunes but finished by chipping in for an eagle on the 18th.

Last year's winner Paula Creamer was in a group of four, also including Kim, tied for fifth place.
